Coddenham Parish Council have arranged for tree works to be carried out on 9 and 10 January 2023 at Broom Hill, part of which lies within the boundary of Hemingstone; the footpath will be periodically closed whilst works are being undertaken.
Hemingstone's Footpaths Officer is Sharon Goddard, who can be contacted about any concerns through the main Parish Council email address hemingstone_pcc@outlook.com
Footpath problems (blockages, diversions, overgrown trees and hedges etc.) can be reported direct to the Suffolk County Council Highways team, which deals with all right-of-way issues. Their reporting page is https://highwaysreporting.suffolk.gov.uk
The footpath map below is a circular walk to Coddenham, taking in both Hemingstone and Coddenham church's.
These walks are also being put on the OS map app (Basic version free to download on your phone, just search "OS maps" in the App Store, and look for OS maps: Walking and Bike trails) - then search "Hemingstone" area, and look for walks starting at Retreat East. This information shall also be available within the March's edition of the 10 Village News.
When walking footpaths please follow the countryside code, available here: www.discoversuffolk.org.uk
Also be aware that some parts of the walks are on public roads, so where this is the case, please do take extra care
This walk below, is a map for a "There and back" walk to the Moon and Mushroom pub in Swilland. These walks are also being put on the OS map app (Basic version free to download on your phone, just search "OS maps" in the App Store, and look for OS maps: Walking and Bike trails) - then search "Hemingstone" area, and look for walks starting at Hemingstone (or Retreat East) - This one is called "Retreat East to Moon and Mushroom", and is Apx. 4.00miles. The longer (6.5mile) alternative route back via Ashbocking, is also on the OS App, as "Moon and Mushroom to Retreat East" The OS App doesn't always seem to be very good at picking up all the walks, but persist, and you will (hopefully) find When walking footpaths please follow the countryside code, available here: https://www.discoversuffolk.org.uk/countryside-code Also be aware that some parts of the walks (Not to much for this one) are on public roads, so where this is the case, please do take extra care. Hopefully the maps are easy to follow, and the routes are generally well signposted, but if you do get lost, sorry (but don't blame me!) Have fun, and enjoy a pint of Victoria at the Moon and Mushroom, and as always, many thanks to Georgina for drawing the maps.
